Happy Valentines Day!!! Even though I am still sick and having some back issues it is a decent day. I have never felt soo loved than I do this Valentines Day. I am very blessed. Will be making a fantastic Valentines Day supper tonight with my loves. Spaghetti and meat sauce and heart garlic toast (if it works out that is).

For those who are celebrating the Valentines Boycott, I hope you have a great day and enjoy some chocolate.

What better way to get refreshed for the new year?? Clean the kitchen and re arrange the living room.. Nothing better than starting with a clean slate. This will be a good relaxing short week at work, go to a wedding on Saturday for a really good friend of mine. It is a cold snap this week too.. here's hoping I will be able to get to work well, I know with Ry no matter what, I will get there.

Well today we get to see a little bit of "winter" there is enough out there that I can deal with, any more and by golly I will be right pissed. I am not one for the cold weather (neither is my car but that is another story). I have loved winter so far, there has been very little snow and plus 16 weather.

Here's hoping to mother nature going back to the nice no snow weather.

Snow Cookies

1 cup butter

1 cup cocoa

1 1/2 cup sugar

4 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

2 1/2 cup flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup icing sugar

Mix the cocoa, sugar and butter together. Then add eggs and vanilla. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt into the wet mixture.

Roll into balls and roll in the icing sugar.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.

Getting closer day by day to my absolute favorite time of the year... Christmas. This year I am more excited than I think I have ever been since being very small. It helps having people around that are as excited as I am for the season! Ainsley is getting impatient to open her presents. Doesn't help that there is one underneath the tree that is as big if not bigger than she is. I feel like I am not even close to being complete my shopping for her.. I know I should really stop at what I have because she is going to be spoiled absolutely rotten by her grandparents, as per always.

I didn't think I was going to get any Christmas baking done this year. With the help of Ryan we were able to get over 60 cookies made last night (gingersnaps). This week we are thinking about making some chocolate crinkles to eat and to send some to his dad in Nanimo. Of course, we will be making a lot more after Christmas so that we can bring a bunch to Medicine Hat.

It is a very busy time of year but we are making it the best one yet!

Chewy & Soft Gingersnap Cookies

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup white sugar
1 cup margarine or 1 cup butter
1 eggs
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup sugar, on a plate for later

Directions

Mix the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves well and set aside.
In another bowl mix with a beater 1 to 2 minutes the sugar, margarine, egg and molasses.
Add the dry ingredients and mix by hand.
Take one good size tablespoons of dough (or more to make a bigger cookie) and roll into a ball.
On a plate put at least a 1/4 cup of sugar.
Then roll the balls into the sugar.
Bake at 350 on an ungreased cookie sheet (air-insulated type is the best) for 10 to 12 minutes.

'Tis the season for family, friends and good wishes. I am glad that this year I will be enjoying my Holiday season with the loves of my life - Ainsley and Ryan.

We have decided our plans for this season. On Christmas Eve we will spend the day at my moms and have supper there. Once we have finished off we will go to Monarch and spend the night and wake up Christmas morning at my dads. I am very excited to have time to spend with both of my parents and my blended family. For the new year we are off to the Hat to visit Ryan's family and ring in the new year.

Over the weekend we finished all of our Christmas shopping and it now all under the tree. Just need to send the few that are going out west soon.

I love this time of year very much!! Stay tuned for more...

Life is wonderful and there are many wonderful things coming up that will make things a little hectic but at the end of the day it being hectic doesn't matter in the least. It is year end assessment time at work again and it is due by next Friday. Mentoring starts on Wednesday and that will be a blast meeting and helping the new hires learn and develop. I am soo happy that I have been given the opportunity to develop and shine in something that I love to do - HELPING OTHERS!!

Negativity can't keep me down, I keep going up and UP! I have never been this excited to live everyday for me and for Ainsley! I have such a wonderful family and friends and boyfriend that I couldn't ask for anything better. I love you all! <3 xox

It is frosty out side, cuddled nice and warm with my two favorite people and cat. Time to reminisce about the past week.

Last I had mentioned is that we were going to Medicine Hat to visit Ryan's family last weekend which we did. It was a great weekend with fabulous people. It was a beautiful fall weekend. I cannot wait to go back.

Monday was Halloween. We were all hippies during the day and at night we dressed Ainsley up as a zombie. SHE HAD SOO MUCH FUN!!! Below is a picture of our little beast.

Off to make some home made chicken noodle soup today for my little family (minus cat). I am hoping it will turn out to be amazing.

There once was a time where getting out of bed in the morning and facing the day was one of the hardest things to do. Given the mis-adventures that I have experienced within the last 5 years I would say that I had every right to feel that way. I can't say all was bad. There was obviously good times and some very low times. I have been hurt in ways that I will never heal from even if I tried.

I am slowly mending the wounds, the scars that have tormented me day in and day out. My re occurring nightmares have subsided and now things are starting to look a lot brighter. I can't say that my life is perfect. Yes, I still have troubles financially. Yes, I am going to have that fear of being hurt for the rest of my life. But hey, I am getting there.

I am back in a place where I want to be. I am surrounding myself with people and family that mean more to me than the years that have passed. Don't dwell on the past... was something I have had to repeat to myself daily. It is time to move on... what better way than starting a clean slate.

Thankful doesn't begin to express how I feel for Ryan, Jason, Crystal and Logan for giving me the strength to carry on even when I was in my lowest. If it wasn't for those four "saviors" I would probably be 6 feet under by now.

This is my journey to rebuild my life.
